Mencap Concert Rocks Highlands

Mencap Christmas Concert at Highlands Methodist Church 2017

Flush from their success this year performing at The London Palladium and in preparation for the Royal Albert Hall in 2019, Southend Mencap entertained us on the evening of Friday 8 December .

What a celebration we enjoyed! Over 50 members of The Music Man projects in Southend and Maldon provided some wonderful music and entertainment. With solo performers and small group acts singing and on the saxophone and piano, we were brilliantly entertained. We also had sleight-of-hand entertainment with green light globes appearing and disappearing from all parts of the body! There was a rendition of a particularly lovely and moving new carol, which was signed for the deaf.  Even Sir David Amess MP agreed that this was THE Carol Concert to attend.

The final rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas was the highlight of the evening with David Stanley leaping as a lord up the aisle amidst a grand cacophony of sound.

Thank you to Southend Mencap and a very Happy Christmas to you all.
